Contract tendered
What is contract tendered in baseball?
Who is eligible for contract tender?
The club tenders a contract to a player or group of performers who are under its control. It’s actually for baseballers on the 40-man roster with six or fewer years of league service time. The club should tender these contracts or the performers consider themselves the free agents. The eligibility for the arbitration doesn’t matter in this case. However, the pre-arbitration players can’t impact on their future salary.
Tendering of the arbitration-eligible contract means reaching terms of their future cooperation till February. If these negotiations fail, the group of independent arbitrations will determine the player’s salary under the conditions of the bargaining agreement.
