What is defensive indifference in baseball?
When is the defensive indifference effective?
The defensive indifference is the absence of any attempts to put out the runner by the defensive team. It happens in the final innings of the game when they are unreachable for the opponents. The same is actual for the moments when the defensive team is far behind the count. Any attempt to steal the base without any play from the defenders is a popular example. The runner usually moves from the first base to the second. In the case of defensive indifference, the team can’t get the stolen base award.
