Get off the schneid

The team can have a consecutive series of wins or losses. Any breaking of that means it got off the schneid. The German people enriched baseball with this term. It means somebody or something cutting the cloth, primarily the tailor. This is also one more term originating from card games. The schneid means preventing the player from scoring. It can apply to the performer or team scoring the (home) run after the series of fails.
