What is isolated power in baseball?
The ISO statistic takes into account the extra base hits. It shows how many power does the player use to perform them. For example, the performer with a single and a double has bigger batting average than the performer with only one double. Their ISO will be the same.
The double brings one point for the player, triple equals 2 points and home run adds 3 points for the player. Their sum is divided by the difference between the number of at-bats or slugging percentages and the batting average.
