M&M boys

The M&M boys is the duet of the players Mike Mantley and Roger Maris. These guys were teammates in the Yankees from 1960 to 1966. A duet received its first prominence in the 1961 after to challenge Babe Ruth’s achievement 60 home runs in the single season. This race had changed the hands between them during the summer and fueled the press scrutiny. Mantle removed from the competition due to the abscessed hip.

Roger Maris broke the record. His 61st HR became possible because Sal Durante caught the ball. That man wanted to make the gift to the player but Maris encouraged him to sell the memorabilia to earn the money. However, the player got the ball from the restaurateur to whom Durant sold the ball. Now it’s in the exhibition of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
