2022-23 NBA players with number 6
The National Basketball Association and National Basketball Players Association decided to honor Billy Russell and remove his number 6 from the circuit throughout the league. But all players wearing it now can use it till their retirement. Russell, who played outstanding basketball and was a civil activist, became the first player who receives this honor. Let’s look at the latest basketball players with number 6 in the NBA.
LeBron James from Los Angeles Lakers is a candidate for the Basketball Hall of Fame. 4x NBA champion, 4xMVP of the final series, and the unchangeable captain of the All-Star team. He is a two-time Olympic champion too. So the league would remove this number when James retired.
Alex Caruso was lucky to reserve number 6 for himself in Chicago Bulls last season. He moved to Chicago from Los Angeles Lakers. Interesting that despite the results in the collegiate A&M program, Caruso signed his first contract with Oklahoma without draft help. Last season he spent 28 minutes and scored 7 points on average per game in the 2021/22 NBA season.
Kristas Pozingis from Latvia wears number 6 in Washington Wizards. He succeeded in getting it before the solution to honor Russell. This player started his career in the Spanish Sevilla when the NBA scouts noticed him. New York Knicks picked him in 2015. Kristas doubled his scoring from 8 points average in the ACB league to 18 in the NBA.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker wears number 6 in Utah Jazz. Brooklyn Nets had chosen him at the 2019 draft, but New Orleans had traded rights for him. He spent his best years there with 12 points minimum per season. After Jazz signed him, Nickeil reduced his accuracy, but he is too young to make any conclusions.
Hamidou Diallo got to number 6 after moving to Detroit Pistons from Oklahoma City Thunder. They drafted him in 2018 Round 2 as pick 45. He won the gold medal at the 2016 Americas U-18 Championship and continues his international career as a USA National Basketball team member.
Shooting guard Quentin Grimes could become the player of the Clippers, but New York Knicks purchased him in 2021. In his first appearance against Bucks, he scored 27 points, 21 of which were 3PTs. Grimes also won the 2018 FIBA Americas U-18 championship and now represents the professional Men’s Basketball team.
Jalen McDaniels has worn number 6 in the Charlotte Hornets team since 2019. He joined the top 100 prospects in 2016 after a brilliant season in the Federal Way college team. This player improved his performance each year, scoring 15 points on average with 25 points on a peak. He was the 45th pick in the 2019 draft.
Jordan McLaughlin represents the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had an exciting career. It started in 2018 Long Island Nets – the training department of the Brooklyn team. He participated in some preseason games, but then Nets waived him to Minnesota. Jordan has a double-double in his career – 24 points and 11 assists in the 2020 game against Los Angeles Clippers.
Kenyon Martin Jr. is a member of the Houston Rockets. Sacramento Kings drafted him in round 2 of the 2020 NBA Draft, but the Rockets traded that prospect from high school. Kevin scores about 8 points and releases at most minuscule one assist in the game.
David Duke Junior wears number 6 in Brooklyn Nets. Some journalists mistakenly call him a free agent. Duke Jr. plays in the National Basketball Association and is a Long Island Nets roster member. That explains why this performer has played only 22 games for the leading team in his debut season.
Keon Johnson is the last player who got number 6 in Portland Blazers. His career had a dramatic start as New York Knicks selected him in the 2021 Draft Round 1, but he didn’t play any game for them as the Clippers took him. But the player’s performance wasn’t good as expected. Blazers awarded him 12 games started in the 2021-22 season. All his best career records happened in Portland.
