What event is called All-star Game in hockey?
All-star Game is an annual event held midway through the NHL season in a pre-selected arena, comprised of two teams of elite players against one another. This game is used as a showcasing of league talent and rarely encompasses aggression and body-checking.
The NHL All-star game has undergone some criticism due to several renowned players opting not to participate in the All-Star game. In 2008, Martin Brodeur chose not to participate in the game in favor of resting. As a result of many NHL stars not participating, in 2009 the NHL began to enforce a policy that a player that has been selected to the All-star game and does not participate are forced to miss one regular season game.
