Center
What is Center in hockey?
How to understand a hockey term Center?
What is the definition of Center in hockey?
Center is the forward position player who plays in the middle of the ice between the Left and Right Wing. This player takes face-offs and many times has to support the defense in the defensive zone when the other team has the puck.
Some of the most cerebral players in the game play center since they need to be defensively responsible as well as offensively gifted. Wayne Gretzky was a center for example.
Centers do much more than just score. In fact, most of them play a defensive role, acting as faceoff specialists or play on a checking line to help their team win.
Other notable centers over the years include Howie Morenz, Jean Beliveau, Phil Esposito, Bobby Clarke, Steve Yzerman, and Sidney Crosby just to name a few.
