Who wore number 47 in NHL?

Choosing a jersey number sometimes has a philosophy of its own. Each NHL player has his own number logic and usually keeps this number for the rest of his career if possible.

Hampus Lindholm

Hampus Lindholm is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman known for playing with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has been playing for the Ducks since the 2012 draft, when he was a first-round selection by the team. He began his ice hockey career with Jonstorps IF and has previously played with Rögle BK.

Lindholm is a two-way defenceman who is good at passing the puck. His skating and hockey intelligence have also been admired. Former NHL defenseman Kenny Jönsson has influenced Lindholm, and Lindholm mentioned Nicklas Lidström and Scott Niedermayer as his other role models.

Alexander Radulov

Alexander Valerievich Radulov is a Russian professional ice hockey player known for playing with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). He had previously had two separate stints with the Nashville Predators, the NHL team which had drafted him, as well one season with the Montreal Canadiens and eight seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), split evenly between Salavat Yulaev Ufa and CSKA Moscow.

Radulov is a World Champion (2008 and 2009) with Russia; a 2011 Gagarin Cup champion with Salavat Yulaev Ufa; and a 2006 Memorial Cup champion with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)’s Quebec Remparts. He also won the Golden Stick Award (KHL MVP). Radulov is one of the leaders in KHL scoring with 427 points. He is of mixed Russian and Gagauz ethnicity. Alexander is the brother of Igor Radulov.

Marc-Andre Bergeron

Joseph Marc-André Bergeron is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in 10 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) before spending the later years of his career with the ZSC Lions of the National League (NL). He was known as a power play specialist, more than half of Bergeron’s career goals and points came with the man advantage.

Torey Krug

Torey Krug is an American professional ice hockey defenseman known for playing with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League. Krug previously played for the Boston Bruins from 2012 to 2020.

Being undrafted, he played NCAA hockey at Michigan State University, also playing for the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League (USHL), winning the Clark Cup with the latter, the team’s first-ever title.

In 2012, Krug was named the CCHA Player of the Year, and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

John Grahame

John Gillies Mark Grahame is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes. He won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004.

Stephan Lebeau

Stéphan Armand Lebeau is a former professional ice hockey centre who played seven seasons in the National Hockey League from 1988–89 to 1994–95. He won a Stanley Cup in 1993 with the Montreal Canadiens. His brother, Patrick, also played a short time in the NHL.

Rich Pilon

Richard Brian Pilon is a Canadian former ice hockey player of Métis heritage. He was drafted 143rd overall in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. Playing as a defenceman, Pilon played for the Islanders, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues during his 15-year NHL career. He is the former coach of the Weyburn Red Wings of The SJHL.

Sven Bärtschi

Sven Bärtschi is a Swiss professional ice hockey forward known for playing with the Henderson Silver Knights in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the Vegas Golden Knights in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played his first professional games in 2009 for SC Langenthal in the National League B before moving to North America to join Portland in the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he finished as the runner-up for the league’s Rookie of the Year award. He was selected by the Calgary Flames in the first round, 13th overall, at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and made his NHL debut in 2012.

Morgan Barron

Morgan Andrew Barron is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre known for playing with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Barron played two seasons of minor ice hockey with the Newbridge Academy Gladiators of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League (NSMMHL) before enrolling at St. Andrew’s College in Ontario. Upon graduating, he enrolled and graduated from Cornell University to play collegiate ice hockey and was picked 174th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Barron played three seasons at Cornell before starting his professional career with the Rangers. He received numerous accolades including an AHCA All-America, All-Ivy League, and All-ECAC Hockey First Team selection and was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Year for 2020.

Tom Cavanagh

Thomas Garrett Cavanagh was an American professional ice hockey center who last played with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the sixth round, 182nd overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. After playing four seasons at Harvard University, he was signed to a professional contract by the Sharks organization.

Cavanagh made his National Hockey League debut with San Jose near the end of the 2007–08 season and recorded an assist on his first shift. The following season, he scored his lone NHL goal March 28, 2009, a backhand shot past Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov.

Dean Chynoweth

Dean E. Chynoweth is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League for the New York Islanders and the Boston Bruins. Drafted 13th overall by the Islanders in the 1987 NHL Entry Draft, Chynoweth played 241 regular season games in 10 NHL seasons, scoring 4 goals and 18 assists for 22 points and clocked up 667 penalty minutes. He was also the head coach of the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds. He served as the general manager and head coach for another WHL franchise, the Swift Current Broncos, from 2004 to 2011. Chynoweth was formerly an assistant coach with the New York Islanders.

Chynoweth is also the son of Ed Chynoweth, a respected former hockey executive who was on the selection committee of the Hockey Hall of Fame and was the longtime president of the WHL. Ed Chynoweth died on April 22, 2008 of cancer aged 66. Chynoweth is an ancient Cornish name.

  • On June 26, 2012, Chynoweth was named head coach of the American Hockey League’s Lake Erie Monsters.
  • On July 17, 2018, Chynoweth was hired as an assistant coach for the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.
  • On July 12, 2021, Chynoweth was hired as an assistant coach for the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.

Simon Després

Simon Després is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman known for playing with Eisbären Berlin of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He was drafted in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins and has also played for the Anaheim Ducks. During a game in 2015, he suffered a severe concussion that complicated his career due to recurring symptoms, forcing him to miss nearly all Ducks games to follow; out of concern for his condition, the Ducks bought him out. He later signed with HC Slovan Bratislava of the Kontinental Hockey League, before attempting to return to the NHL via the Montreal Canadiens who assigned him to the Rocket, their AHL affiliate.

Maxim Galanov

Maxim Nikolaevich Galanov is a Russian retired ice hockey player. Galanov was drafted 61st overall by the New York Rangers in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft and played in the National Hockey League for the Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Atlanta Thrashers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. In all, Galanov played 122 regular season games in the NHL, scoring 8 goals and 12 assists for 20 points and recording 44 penalty minutes. Before and after his time in the NHL Galanov played for several teams in Russia, retiring in 2013. Internationally Galanov played for Russia at the 2000 World Championship.

Mark Janssens

Mark Francis Janssens is a Canadian retired ice hockey forward.

Janssens started his National Hockey League career with the New York Rangers in 1989. He also played for the Minnesota North Stars, Hartford Whalers, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes, and Chicago Blackhawks. He left the NHL after the 2001 season.

On September 11, 2001, Janssens was heading to Columbia University and saw one of the planes hit the World Trade Center.

He’s also employed at Access Global Trading based out of Stamford, Connecticut.

Leo Komarov

Leonid Aleksandrovich Komarov is an Estonian-born Finnish professional ice hockey player known for playing as the centre for SKA Saint Petersburg of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). A natural centre early in his career, Komarov has made the transition to being able to play all three forward positions.

Although Komarov was raised in Finland, he is reportedly the first ever NHL player who was born in Estonia. Komarov was a member of the gold medal-winning Finnish national team in the 2011 IIHF World Championship.

Mike Green

Michael David Green is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Washington Capitals, Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers.

Known for his hard slapshot and goal-scoring offense during his ten-year tenure with the Capitals, Green put up impressive offensive statistics for a defenceman from 2007 to 2010. During this time, he earned the nickname “Game Over Green”, for his propensity to score game-winning goals.
