The third and goal is the down and distance play which nears the team to the touchdown. Distance to the goal line from the scrimmage is ten yards or less. The offense has a choice of the pass or run play. Pass plays here are tricky due to the risk of fumble or interception, that’s why the offense uses the running option. Defenders need to blitz and interfere with the possible runners’ paths. They would remember that the quarterback will fake its target and be ready for this too.
