Base block
What is base block in football?
The base block is the man-to-man or gap offensive line technique. It needs pure power as the offensive lineman has to keep its defensive opponent away from the ball. Coaches train the perfect block movement.
This block starts before the snap with the player’s three-point stance. Its knees are bent, the back should be flat, and the firm hips. After the snap, the offensive executor lunges forth with its arms lined up. It generates most of the energy in the second step. The player uses its hip and leg force to hit the opponent. It naturally responds, so the proper footwork, so quick and short steps are required from the offensive lineman to keep balance.
