Tell me about training program, please
The bench press is an exercise for muscle training in multiple sports. If we speak about NFL, it is one of the Scout Combine tests required for each player.
This test supposes the lifting of 225-pound or 102 kg equivalent stamina as much times as possible. The average result is 15 to 25 times. Only 17 men showed 40 repetitions since 1997. The best result is 51 repetitions showed Justin Ernest, defensive tackle of New Orleans Saints.
To pass the test, the candidate lays on its back flat on the bench with hands located on the barbell at shoulder width. The attempt is ok when the bar first touches its chest, then the elbows straighten at the top point. The butt remains in full contact with bench surface while the hips save their position as they may not uprise during lifting press motion.
The training program for this drill starts in the first days of the program. The recommendations include rotation of upper body power and maximum endurance. To improve body power, coaches use heavier weights and less repetitions while maximum endurance focuses on repetitions with lighter weights. Thus, the players get the opportunity to show the best skills in this contest.
