Blindside tackle
What is blindside tackle in football?
The blindside tackle happens when the defender captures the quarterback without notice from its side. It occurs during the passing plays. The primary concern is the surprise for the QB, so the defense is closer to fumbling the ball or scoring.
Most quarterbacks have a dominant right hand and turn that side to throw the ball confidently. The defender should come from the left side to release the blindside tackle. Initially, the main idea of that tackle is to earn a sack without the necessity to contact offensive linemen. But some defensive coordinators put the skilled defenders on the right side because they consider the visual pressure more effective.
