What is China Arena Football League in American football?

Why CAFL’s history is dramatic?

The China Arena football league is a professional unit with 4 members in continental China. It was created in 2016 to popularize and legalize the gridiron inside the Republic of China. The league members use the eight-to-eight system with an equal presence of Chinese and abroad players on the field.

CAFL project appeared in 2012 but its history is very dramatic. The government allowed some exhibition games to promote this sport. Arena Football League world stars visited this country in 2013 with a showcasing all-star game. The next step was the China Rugby festival in 2014. The government sanctioned CAFL games on regular basis.

2016 became a first season with a champion. The next season moved to spring of 2018 with further movement to 2019. Wuhan Gators won it without defeats. The COVID-19 pandemics declined the next season. But the virus and problems in China-US relations may ban the further development of gridiron in China.
