Faking a roughing

In American football, “faking a roughing” refers to a defensive player’s attempt to trick the offensive team. It includes the defensive player pulling up and avoiding contact while faking to strike the quarterback after he releases the ball. This might result in a penalty for roughing the passer against the offensive team, giving the defense the upper hand and possibly ending the offensive drive. It takes talent and time to execute well, but when done so, it may be a move that changes the outcome of the game.
