Fly pass pattern
What is fly pass pattern in football?
The fly pass pattern or fly route happens when the receiver runs to the end zone without trying to receive the pass from the quarterback. It must separate from the defenders to reach the target, catch the ball and score the touchdown.
It has some advantages. If the defenders fail to block the pass, the chance of at least six points becomes higher. The offenses use it to gain long yardage. This route may be a part of strategy whgen the fake receiver runs to the end zone and delays the defenders from the actual ball carrier. To be successful, it’s the responsibility of the fastest receiver.
However, the reverse of the fly route is no surprises. The defense won’t expect any sudden turns. Thus, it may be easier to block the player who runs straightforward.
