Monday Football Night
The Monday Football Night is the weekly show on the ESPN channel. It has covered 53 NFL seasons airing live 700+ regular games as of 2023. The national coverage supports several sport and public networks in the USA and Canada. ESPN International platform is responsible for coverage abroad.
Primarily, the task of the program is to broadcast the games live. But the league tradition suggests the weekend schedule, and here comes the main problem. But the NFL has solved this problem. In 2006, the first season’s game is held on Monday to capitalize on the interest for the next season.
Another problem was the NFL’s desire to go the Game of Week up on Sunday night. That was why ABC was ready to cease broadcasting the MNF show. The league considered the weekend flex schedule more logistically comfortable than Monday.
This show is the longest-running program on the USA TV market. Each program includes the analysis of sports celebrities. Some episodes are unique. For example, Californian governor Ronald Reagan explained football rules to John Lennon in a 1974 broadcast. Six years later, the MNF informed the audience about that Beatle’s murder.
