Play action

The play action is an American football play.

It starts as running play with further transmission to the pass play. Some commentators consider it as the opposition to the draw play. The offensive variation is called to stop the defensive options of the opponents.

Its main participants are the quarterback and running back. The first player runs from the snap and handoff the ball to RB, trying to hide it from the defenders. The QB needs to find the downfield receiver. RB is still moving with the ball. The team’s offensive line starts blocking actions transferring to the pass protection. The receivers appear to the block with a further break to their pass routes.
