Rush
The rushing is mostly offensive action aimed at gaining yardage through the run rather than pass or kick. It starts from behind the line of scrimmage and has advancing intention.
All eligible players can rush, but the running backs do it more often after the handoff from the quarterback. The latter will run if the receivers are closed by blockers. The second condition is the availability of the running lane to reach the target securely.
Take into account the pass rush. It’s the defensive action aimed to protect the team’s end zone. Defenders hurry or flush the quarterback to force a sack or interception. The first and second rushing types are quite different. Please don’t confuse them while discussing the game.
