Scramble drill
What is the aim of scramble drill?
What are the principles of the scramble drill?
The scramble drill is a training exercise to train the response to flushing the quarterback out of pocket.
The training starts from the quarterback and the receiver’s pre-pass play position. The latter start to run normal routes. Three seconds later the QB starts scrambling left or right. The purpose for this drill is to teach the receivers to identify QB’s movements and to get open for him immediately.
The scramble drill has two main principles. If the receiver is on the QB scramble direction, it would find an uncovered space for actions. Its opposite colleague must run across the middle of the field and find a hole to be visible for the quarterback.
