Screen pass
What is screen pass in American football?
What screen pass variations are widespread?
The screen pass is a short pass to the receiver surrounded by screen of blockers. A series of actions followed by screen pass aims to fool the defense that the quarterback or passer intends to make a long pass. This tactic works against aggressive defenses. They are designed to leave fewer defenders in rush positions because most defenses try to rush a passer.
у
The minuses of the screen passes are their interception risk. It must be ready and elaborate. The quarterback, offensive line and the intended receiver must work correspondingly. If one participant fails, the defensive linemen and linebackers gets a credit.
There are four types of the screen types – bubble screen, middle screen, slot screen and slip screen. The most widespread are bubble and middle screens. They are similar each other, but the middle screen involves the receiver to continue its route to the middle of the field. The slot screen supposes the slotback activity. The slip screen happens when the running back slips through pass rushers and catches the ball near the play-side original alignment.
