Simple rating system
The Simple Rating System (SRS) is how American football teams in the National Football League (NFL) are judged on how well they play. It is a formula-based rating method that looks at a team’s average point difference and how demanding their schedule is.
The SRS figures out a team’s ranking by removing the average point difference between that team and its opponents from the average point difference between that team and its opponents. The point differential is the gap between how many points a team gets per game and how many points they give up. The average SRS grade of a team’s opponents is used to determine the strength of its schedule.
By putting these two things together, the SRS gives a single number that shows how well a team did overall compared to its opponents. A team with a positive SRS rating does better than average, while a team with a negative rating does worse than average.
The SRS is often used in football statistics. It can help you compare teams, predict what will happen, and determine how well a team did overall during the season. But it’s important to remember that the SRS is just one of many scoring systems used in American football and that different measures can show other things about how well a team is doing.
