Statue of Liberty play
The Statue of Liberty play is the trick episode during the game. It resembles and honors the main sights of New York City. There are many variations of this play, but the most widespread is the taking of the ball by the quarterback with further dropping back with gripping hands in a throwing manner. But then it puts the ball to the weaker hand, pretending to throw it in one direction. Instead, the quarterback handoffs the ball to the running back or receiver in motion, who runs to the goal line.
This play requires proper timing and accuracy. If done correctly, the offense tricks the defense and opens the safe corridor for the ball carrier. Of course, the pose of the quarterback resembles the famous Statue with one hand rising high and the other at its side. In the case of success, this performer gains high yardage. However, the coordination could be better. The failure can end with a fumble or even a sack.
