X-receiver

The X or split end receiver is a pass-catching offensive position on the field.

This letter represents the primary offensive receiver. Its responsibilities and routes depending on the current game scheme. The coach and quarterback read and analyze the plays and use them in the QB’s cadence. The X-Wheel is simpler and more effective command than Flanker-Out in noise and pressing conditions.

The X-receiver always positions on the line of scrimmage. Its location gives more chances to defenders to beat the split end. That’s why X must run more outside routes to avoid the pressure. The viewers may quickly identify them. The Xs are usually tall and have better power than other receivers.
