Seating plan of the Arrowhead Stadium
Club Level seating gives ticketholders access to premium amenities not available anywhere else at Arrowhead Stadium. Consisting of the Sideline Select, Redzone, and Touchdown Zone Club seating areas on the second level of Arrowhead Stadium, fans will find seats situated at an ideal elevation for the best sitelines. In addition to premier amenities and great views, most club level seats are covered – providing protection in the case of hot temperatures, rain or wind.
Club Level ticketholders will enjoy early access to the stadium on gameday (2.5 hours prior to kickoff), private entry and escalator access and resort-style restrooms. The club level includes upscale food and beverage options with premium liquor available and a climate-controlled space with lounges, bars, and high definition monitors with NFL Sunday Ticket. Finally, concierge desks are available throughout the club level for game day assistance and to help you feel like a VIP.
Best Seats for Great Views of the Field at Arrowhead Stadium
Among NFL venues, Arrowhead Stadium is unique in that its seating bowls wrap around the entire stadium on all three levels (one exception is the 200 level where Suites take place of common seating). This closed-bowl design makes Arrowhead one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL – and also one of the most predictable when it comes to finding a great view.
Because of the uniformity of the stadium, the best views for a Chiefs game are found exclusively near the 50 yardline on each level of the stadium.
Best Rows on the Lower Level
On the lower level – also known as the 100 level – sections 117-121 on the Chiefs side of the field and 101-103 and 135-136 on the visitor side of the field are closest to midfield. When looking at tickets in these sections, it may be tempting to choose the lowest possible row to sit near the players. While this may provide an incredible experience, those same players will be difficult to see over.
For the best overall views, we recommend tickets in rows 22-35. These rows are well-situated above the players on the sideline, and the overhang will not disrupt your siteline.
Midfield Club Seats
If you’re headed to a Chiefs game without any budget restrictions, the absolute best place to sit is in the club level sections near midfield. These seats can only be found on the visitor site of the field (sections 201-203 and 245-246), which makes them among the most exclusive seats in the stadium.
What makes these seats so good? The elevation. When you sit in these sections, you don’t have to turn your head side-to-side to see each endzone. Instead, you get a comfortable view of the action without the neck pain. These sections also hang slightly over the 100 level, which makes them closer to the field than you might expect.
Upper Deck Seats at Midfield
If your budget does not match up with seats on the lower level or club level, there are two primary considerations on the 300 level.
First, check for seats in rows 2-11 of sections 301-303, 322-326 and 345-346. Each of these sections is located close to midfield and offers you a view from just above the club level. By selecting seats in rows 2-11 you are avoiding the railing in front of row 1, and avoiding the crowd that spills out of the tunnel behind row 11. Instead, you’ll enter the tunnel and have a short walk down the steps to your seats.
For an afternoon game, sections 322-326 are favored over those on the other side of the field because the sun does not shine in your eyes as much.
Inexpensive Alternative to Midfield Seats
A less expensive alternative on the 300 level is seating in sections 311-314 and 334-337. Instead of a midfield view, you’ll have a video-game-like view from above the endzone. Some fans enjoy this perspective because they can more easily see plays develop. At Arrowhead Stadium, these seats also have the advantage of having a head-on view of the videoboards that are perched above the stadium. This helps you catch replays and keep an eye on stats and scores from around the league. Within these sections, we like the first 4 rows where you’ll be below the entry tunnel and be slightly closer to the field.

Rows 2-11 in Sections 301, 302, 303 and more:
- Elevated view from near midfield – similar to your perspective on TV;
- Located below the entrance tunnel in row 11, which means less fans blocking your view;
- Sit above row 1 to easily see over the railing located at the front of the section.

Construction
The original two-stadium concept was initially designed by Denver architect Charles Deaton and Steadman. Deaton’s design was implemented by the Kansas City architectural firm of Kivett & Myers. Arrowhead is considered by some to have had an influence on the design of several future NFL stadiums. Construction of the stadium was a joint venture Sharp-Kidde-Webb construction firms.
The stadium was the first in the NFL to include arrows on the yard markers to indicate the nearer goal line (initially, they resembled little Indian arrowheads). This practice would eventually spread to the other NFL stadiums, becoming mandatory league-wide (after first being used in Super Bowl XII), and become almost near-universal at the lower levels of football.
When Arrowhead Stadium hosted the Pro Bowl due to an ice storm and brutally cold temperatures the week leading up to the game, the game’s participants worked out at the facilities of the San Diego Chargers. On game day, the temperature soared to 41°, melting most of the ice and snow that accumulated during the week. The AFC defeated the NFC, 15–13.
Renovations
Jackson County voters approved a tax increase to finance municipal bonds to pay for $850 million in renovations to Arrowhead and nearby Kauffman Stadium. Before the bond election, the NFL awarded the 49th Super Bowl to Kansas City provided it would have a climate controlled stadium. With the passing of the stadium bill, the Chiefs signed a new lease which ensures that the team will remain at Arrowhead.
The renovated stadium features the Chiefs Hall of Honor, a tribute to Lamar Hunt, and “horizon level” seating in which luxury suite owners are now sitting outdoors.
Two Diamond Vision screens shaped as footballs were installed. Then other improvements were made and natural grass playing surface was installed, replacing the original artificial Astroturf playing field.
Arrowhead Stadium completed the installation of a multimillion-dollar integrated system from Daktronics out of Brookings, South Dakota. Two high definition video displays were retrofitted into the existing football-shaped displays in both end zones. Approximately 1,625 feet (495 m) of digital ribbon board technology was also installed in the stadium.
History
When the Dallas Texans of the American Football League (AFL) relocated to Kansas City and were renamed the Kansas City Chiefs, they played home games at Municipal Stadium, which they shared with the Kansas City Athletics of Major League Baseball. The A’s left for Oakland and were replaced by the expansion Kansas City Royals. Municipal Stadium seated approximately 35,000 for football.
As part of the AFL–NFL merger announced, NFL stadiums would be required to seat no fewer than 50,000 people. The City of Kansas City was unable to find a suitable location for a new stadium, so Jackson County stepped in and offered a location on the eastern edge of Kansas City near the interchange of Interstate 70 and Interstate 435.
Voters approved a $102 million bond issue to build a new sports complex with two stadiums. The original design called for construction of side-by-side baseball and football stadiums with a common roof that would roll between them. The design proved to be more complicated and expensive than originally thought and so was scrapped in favor of the current open-air configuration. The two-stadium complex concept was the first of its kind. The Chiefs staff, led by team general manager Jack Steadman, helped develop the complex.
