Seating plan of the Baku Olympic Stadium
The Baku National Stadium is made in the shape of a bowl with seats passing through the arena. This corresponds to most modern stadiums, which decided to evade the more typical “English style” — to stand on each edge of the field. There are three levels in the stadium, except for both sides of the field, where there is a fourth level. The crowd is separated from the field by a treadmill.
Where to buy tickets?
Qarabag FK Ticket Prices
Since Qarabag usually do not play their games at the Baku National Stadium, ticket prices are changing. Champions League matches will always be, for example, more expensive than the games of the Premier League of Azerbaijan. Prices are usually published late, so the information we post here may be outdated before we know it.
How to get Qarabag FK tickets?
You can usually buy tickets at the stadium itself or through the club’s website. Remember, however, that clubs often lack ticket control when it comes to competitions such as the UEFA Champions League.
Ticket Prices in Azerbaijan
As always with national teams, ticket prices vary depending on the team the hosts are against and the competition for which the match is intended. For example, a friendly game against England will be less popular and much cheaper than the qualifying match of the World Cup against a team such as Armenia and Azerbaijan’s international rivals.
How to get Azerbaijani tickets?
The Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan is where to start when it comes to ticket prices. There is a good website where you can get information about individual matches, including ticket prices and where to pick them up, etc.
How to get there?
The Republic of Azerbaijan is located right on the edge of Europe and Southwest Asia. In other words, this is one hell of a way to get there. Here are some of the methods you might consider to use for your trip to Baku.
Train
Honestly, you cannot catch a train from the UK to Azerbaijan. However, once in the country, you can either take the train to the aptly named “Railway Station” next to the ground, or take the metro to the Koroglu station, which is a short walk from the ground.
Bus
Bus number 11, 20, 24, 36, 93 and 94 are all stops at Milli Stadion, directly over the ground.
Car
If you want to go by car, you will follow the E50/P-217 in Azerbaijan, as it will lead you to the stadium.
By plane
The nearest airport to Baku is Heydar Aliyev International Airport, which is about fifty miles from the center.
Taxi
A taxi from the city center to the stadium will take about ten minutes or so and will cost you about 20 manat.
Parking near Baku National Stadium
There is enough parking space for more than 3,000 cars, although some of these places are reserved for VIPs. Since there is a “Green Zone” around the land itself, we would recommend parking in the center of Baku and get to the stadium by public transport.
Baku National Stadium Hotels
As the capital of Azerbaijan, it is fair to assume that there are several hotels in the city. Here some of our favorites.
Opera Hotel — £ 50 +
Ahmad Rajabli 173, Baku, AZ1025, Azerbaijan
Opera Hotel has a restaurant and lounge, as well as a fitness center that offers spa services. There is a conference center and free Wi-Fi for all guests. There are only 28 rooms here, though, so you are likely to get a good, personalized experience.
Hotel Astoria Baku — £ 60 +
Babek Avenue 76, Baku, AZ1030, Azerbaijan
Astoria in Baku has a lot to recommend it. The hotel has four restaurants, two swimming pools (one indoor and one outdoor), a fitness center, a full-service spa and a conference center. Also in the room rate includes free Wi-Fi, free parking and breakfast “buffet”.
Holiday Inn Baku — £ 80 +
Keykab Khanim Safaralieva, 5, Baku, AZ1010
Sometimes, when you are in a strange place, you just need an environment that you know and understand. This is where hotel chains come into their own, and the Holiday Inn Baku member has a spa, indoor pool, fitness center, restaurant and lounge, terrace and free Wi-Fi.
Bars and pubs near the Baku National Stadium
Baku is a strange mixture of traditional areas of the city, combined with richer places that serve those who made money from the country’s oil. For this reason, there is a real combination of bars and restaurants that you can visit.
Garage Bar
Sefter Quliyev 7, 7, Baku, Azerbaijan
This popular bar has a Turkish influence and offers delicious dishes. There is also a good selection of drinks and a really pleasant atmosphere at any time of the day when you are heading there. Maybe not for the whole family, but worth a visit if you are single or paired.
Overtime Sports Bar
Azerbaijan, Nakhchivani Street, Baku
A clue in the title with this place. A sports bar that shows all the most popular games, including the Premier League and Champions League matches. You can get a decent snack here, as well as many different drinks. Oh, and it’s located in the stadium itself. Great, hey?
Finnegan
8 Əbdülkərim Əlizadə, Baku, Azerbaijan
Nothing says being in a strange place, just like Finnegan’s Irish bar prepares first-class food, all the drinks you expect from an Irish bar, including Guinness. There are several television screens scattered throughout the room to show you any interesting live sport of the day.
Facilities
Given that this is the largest stadium in the country and one of the newest anywhere at the time of writing. It would be fair to assume that the equipment is impressive in all directions. You will not be disappointed with your visit, so to speak.
Hospitality
There are several skyboxes at the stadium that are ideal for all your hospitality needs. The site was built specifically to meet the requirements of UEFA, FIFA and the IAAF. If there is something that we know about these organizations, it is that they like their benefits, so expect the services here to be second to none.
Private rental
In addition to skyboxes, which are available for small meetings, etc., the stadium also has a conference room. As the name suggests, it is specifically designed for conferences and other major events.
History
Foundation ceremony
The foundation of the Baku Olympic Stadium was laid on June 6, 2011 at a ceremony dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijani football.
The ceremony was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva, FIFA President Sepp Blatter, UEFA President Michel Platini, prominent representatives of the global football community, heads of various federations, football veterans and other guests. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was informed about further plans for the construction of the stadium. Speaking at the ceremony, FIFA President Sepp Blatter said:
“This is a really beautiful grand building, and more than 60 thousand football fans who came to the stadium will be able to enjoy football.”
Ilham Aliyev placed a symbolic metal capsule in a soccer ball. His son Heydar Aliyev, scoring a goal in the symbolic goal, threw the ball into the base. The president, along with Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini, controlled a switch to start pouring concrete and signed a soccer ball that was kept in memory of the ceremony.

Despite the foundation-laying ceremony that took place in 2011, the construction of the stadium began only in November 2012 with excavations and backfilling of the stadium.
The total layout of the stadium is 617,000 m² and accommodates 68,000 people. It is six floors.

The area of the main stadium is 87,000 m², the total limited area is 215,000 m², the maximum height from the ground is 60 m².
The project was funded by SOCAR. Turkish company Tekfen Construction and Installation Co., Inc received a design and construction contract.
Along with the stadium, several hotels were built, a parking place (3617 cars) and a green area (81 574 square meters).
The stadium includes VVIP, VIP — CIP Suites with 127 seats with a capacity of 720 spectators, a total internal area of 25,200 m² and a total parking capacity of 3078 cars. The 1800-warm-up area, the MEP building, the information center and two external buildings are another building of the Project.
