Seating plan of Broadwood Stadium

Broadwood Stadium was opened in 1995, some nine years after the Club left their old Shawfield Stadium, which had been their home since 1898. Interestingly Shawfield is still in existence operating as a Greyhound Stadium. In the intervening years the Club ground shared with Hamilton and Partick Thistle, before moving to the new stadium. Broadwood Stadium has only three sides.

The three stands are single tiered, having windshields to either side and are all seated and covered affairs. The size of the stands are roughly of the same height, although the Main Stand at one side of the pitch is slightly taller than the other two. This stand has some enclosed corporate seating at the back. The North End of the ground is unused for spectators as it is occupied by a leisure centre. The Club play on an artificial 3G pitch.

Away supporters are housed in the Southern part of the Main (East) Stand at one side of the pitch. The view of the playing action, leg room and the facilities within the stand are both pretty good. Unfortunately this is the only stand open on matchdays, so the atmosphere is somewhat drained by the outlook over an otherwise empty stadium and leisure centre. This stand is shared with home supporters.

The stadium has a reputation for being one of the coldest in Scotland, in fact some visiting fans have nicknamed the ground ‘Ice Station Broadwood’. Still if you need some central heating then the pies are pretty good. The atmosphere can be a bit flat at times, in an attempt to liven things up, if Clyde score, then ‘Dare’ by the Gorillaz, blasts out around the ground.

There are large windows along the side of the leisure centre, so the complex users can see what’s happening on the pitch when they are running on the tread-mill. This could be considered to be a a double form of torture!

Where to buy tickets?

The amount you’ll pay for your ticket will depend on what event you want to attend (for example, Lowland League matches or Cup Games). How old you are will also determine how much you pay to attend a match.

Tickets are available online via the club’s official website, over the phone or by calling into the ticket office in person.

How to get there?

The ground is situated on the outskirts of Cumbernauld, just off the A80 Stirling Road. The ground is well signposted from the A80 and there is a good sized car park at the ground, albeit on wasteland at the back of it.

The car park is poorly signposted. At the “Broadwood Roundabout” by the stadium, take the turn off into the housing estate and follow the road to the back of the stadium. It costs £2 to park there.

The nearest railway station is Croy, which is about a 20 minute walk away from the Broadwood Stadium. This station is served by trains from Glasgow Queens Street.

Where to eat and sleep?

There is a Brewers Fayre pub/restaurant near to the ground off the Craiglinn roundabout, called the Broadwood Farm. There are other pubs in the neighbouring housing estate of Balloch however finding them (or finding your way back!) in the maze of pedestrian walkways can prove quite challenging. Otherwise in the nearby village of Condorrat there is the Condorrat Arms pub. To find this pub from the front of the Broadwood Stadium go up to the roundabout and turn right, then left at the next roundabout. The pub is just on your left as you enter the village.

Facilities

Broadwood is equipped with a full size astroturf pitch. It also has four 5-a-side pitches for public use, changing rooms, and a gymnasium, the latter being located to the north side of the pitch.

For the 2012–13 season, Clyde played their football on a new 3rd generation synthetic pitch. Broadwood hence became a multi-purpose stadium.

It has a purpose-built rugby facility, on-site, with state-of-the-art fitness and medical equipment.

Accessibility

The Club is committed to ensuring that its disabled supporters and customers have as full access as is reasonably possible to all goods, services and facilities provided or offered to the public by the Club.

The Club will operate a concessionary ticketing policy for disabled supporters and will ensure that the scheme does not discriminate between disabled people with differing impairments.

Any disabled supporter and their carer/helper i.e 1 person will be admitted free of charge and will be accommodated in relation to their required seating.

Broadwood Stadium facilities are fully accessible to disabled customers; a lift is available to the stadium function suite. The concourse area has two unisex disabled toilet facilities which are clearly signposted and are regularly checked by stewards.

The Stadium benefits from substantial on site car parking which includes numerous dedicated disability spaces.

Disabled supporters who are able to do so are welcome to use the turnstile access.

Disabled supporters who are unable to access via the turnstiles will gain admission to the Stadium via the Disabled Entrance located to the right of the main entrance where they will be escorted by a steward or club official to the allotted seating area.

History

It was the home stadium of Clyde from 1994 to 2022. Glasgow City of the Scottish Women’s Premier League shared the stadium for the 2020–21 season. The Scottish Rugby Academy for the Glasgow & The West region is based at Broadwood, and it is also home to the Cumbernauld Centurions BMX Club on the National Level BMX track. Broadwood has staged the final of football’s Scottish Challenge Cup on multiple occasions and Scottish rugby’s Finals Day. The stadium has also held international Rugby league.
