Layout of seats, sectors, stands of the Kazan Arena
The inner bowl of the stadium is classically divided into four stands — A, B, C, D. From sector A (the western stand) there is a central entrance to the stadium. It is the “carrier” of that record media facade. Opposite there is a stand C, which has a VIP entrance. Skyboxes (VIP lodges) are located in the western and eastern sectors — spacious cabinets with a mini-kitchen, a bathroom, air conditioning, a TV and, of course, an excellent view of the field. On each of the stands there are food courts, there are those retorts and exits to the sectors.
You can buy tickets through specialized Internet portals or, for example, on the official website of the Rubin football team. Additionally, every fan can use the services of ticket offices, which are located near the Kazan Arena at inputs A, C, D.
Kazan Arena, without exaggeration, is the main sports and entertainment center of the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. Diverse events take place here all year round. In addition to football matches and various sporting events, concerts, festivals and exhibitions are regularly organized in the complex.
How to get there?
Kazan Arena is located near the Kazanka River in the Novo-Savinovsky district. You can get to the stadium by personal transport through Yamasheva Avenue or Chistopolskaya Street. There is a parking zone for 3,085 spots.
Near the sports complex is the stop “Kazan Arena Football Stadium” (a five-minute walk) and Gavrilova Street (ten minutes walk). Fans can reach one of these destination points by tram (No. 5, 6), trolleybus (No. 7) or bus (No. 1, 7, 10a, 18, 33, 35, 35a, 36, 44, 45, 46, 49, 55, 60, 62, 76). Of course, it is better for city guests to clarify information about current routes on the official website or through other information sources.
Internal infrastructure
The project of the main stadium of the Republic of Tatarstan was conceived and implemented under the slogan “City in the city.” This implied the multifunctionality and self-sufficiency of the arena. It is worth noting that architects, designers and builders managed to cope with their task. Kazan Arena is not only a football stadium, it is a multicomponent complex, which includes a large number of facilities for various purposes. The building houses conference rooms, food courts, shops, a restaurant, skyboxes with the best view of the football field.
Infrastructure for the younger generation is also impressive:
- Children’s city of professions “Kidspace”;
- Football and hockey sections;
- Scientific and entertainment center;
- Musical academy;
- Beauty shop for children.
For sports lovers, Kazan Arena can also be an attractive place to visit. On the territory of the complex there is a fitness club, a swimming pool, a squash court, a sports bar, a crossfit club.
The stadium in Kazan is notable for an interesting hotel complex, the rooms of which during the matches turn into VIP lodges. In addition, the Kazan Arena has a language school and a special school for stewards.
Construction and design features
A new stadium in the capital of Tatarstan was built in just 36 months. According to various estimates, the cost of the complex is about 13 billion rubles. The architectural project was created by the famous company Populous, which also worked on Wembley, Emirates and many other famous sports facilities. It is worth noting that the result of the efforts of the American architectural bureau exceeded all expectations. Kazan Arena received an original recognizable look with unique design solutions.
The thematic basis of the project was taken as a water lily flower. This becomes especially apparent when viewed from a height of the stadium. The translucent roof, which is installed on eight pillars, gives the arena lightness, while maintaining the necessary structural strength. The facade of the stadium is a huge media panel with an area of 3,700 sq.m. On such an impressive screen, you can broadcast sports events, films, commercials or any other video content. The Kazan Arena media facade is one of the largest in the world and is rightfully the main highlight of the stadium.
Football matches
In August 2014, the first official football match was held at the Kazan Arena. The game took place as part of the 4th round of the Russian Championship. Local Rubin could not win the debut match on the new field, having played 1-1 with Moscow Lokomotiv. However, the next match in the new house brought a full three points. The victory was won over CSKA (2-1).
In 2016, the main football stadium of Tatarstan hosted the decisive match of the Russian Cup, in which St. Petersburg Zenit outplayed Moscow CSKA (4-1). The final game of the tournament at the Kazan Arena was attended by almost 37,000 spectators.
In 2017, Kazan hosted four confederation Cup matches. Here, there was one match of group B, two matches of group A (including the game of the Russian team with the Mexican team), as well as the first semi-final (Chile defeated Portugal by penalty). Kazan Arena confidently coped with a serious test in the form of a major international football tournament.
Other sporting events
In July 2013, the capital of Tatarstan hosted large-scale international competitions — the World Summer Universiade. Kazan Arena has become the main venue for this grand sporting event. It was in the bowl of the new stadium where the opening and closing ceremonies of the XXVII World Summer Universiade were held. In addition, the sports complex has become a real media center for student games. Television studios and the main press center were based in the Kazan Arena building.
In the summer of 2015, another major competition was held in the capital of Tatarstan. This time Kazan Arena hosted the 16th World Aquatics Championship. Two pools were installed on the field (each 50 meters in length), as well as additional stands. The infrastructure of the city and the sports complex itself allowed this large-scale international event to be held at a high level. The stadium in Kazan has proved its versatility and readiness for the most complex tasks.
