South Leeds Stadium (South Leeds)

South Leeds Stadium is a football ground in South Leeds, West Yorkshire, England and is the part of The John Charles Centre for Sport. It is located to the south of Leeds city centre roughly on the border of Beeston, Belle Isle and Hunslet. The stadium has been used by Leeds United for reserve matches, and since November 1995 by rugby league club Hunslet. It is the principal athletics stadium in the Leeds area and is the home of Leeds City Athletics Club. The stadium is one of the best available to clubs at Hunslet’s level.

The stadium was the first part of the sports centre to be built. It has a two tier stand at the west end of the ground which has a capacity of 4,000. It also houses the changing rooms, corporate boxes and the Phoenix Bar. The stadium has a running track as well as a pitch and is mainly used for rugby league and athletics.

Where to buy tickets?

Only spectators with valid match tickets bought in advance of the match, may attend matches.

Spectators will be able to purchase match tickets by clicking here https://hunslet.mysportstickets.co.uk/ up until half an hour prior to KO on the day of the game.

Spectators will only be able to purchase match tickets as individuals unless a group booking is made by individuals from the same household or the same social bubble as per Government guidance please click here to read the guidance.

The club office / shop is situated behind the stadium reception, to access this area make your way through the main double doors. If you have pre-booked tickets, make your way to the club office / shop to collect your tickets. The main turnstiles are situated on the south side of the Stadium adjacent to the Phoenix Suite.

How to get there?

From the West: exit M62 at junction 28. At roundabout 1st exit onto A653 signposted Leeds. At next roundabout take 2nd exit onto A653 signposted Leeds. At next roundabout again take 2nd exit onto A653 signposted Leeds. As road forks, branch right onto Dewsbury Road signposted Leeds South. After approx’ 1 mile (having passed Tommy Wass pub on your left, and The Broadway on your right.) turn right between the Kwik Fit garage and the Dewsbury Road Social Club onto Middleton Grove. The stadium is at the top of the hill on your left.

From the East: Leave the M62 at junction 29 then at roundabout take the 3rd exit, then join the M1 motorway signposted The North. Branch right onto the M621 signpost Leeds City Centre. Leave the M621 at junction 5 then turn left into Tunstall Road, signposted Hunslet – Beeston. At 2nd set of traffic lights turn left onto A653 Dewsbury Road. After 1/2 mile turn left at lights between Kwik Fit garage and Dewsbury Road Social Club onto Middleton Grove. The Stadium is at the top of the hill on your left.

From the South: Continue on M1, then branch right onto the M621 signposted Leeds City Centre.Then follow instructions as above.

On Sundays Arriva Service 481 (Leeds to Wakefield) leaves Leeds City Centre Bus Station at 2:20 pm and is scheduled to arrive at the South Leeds Stadium at 2:33 pm.

Where to eat and drink?

On arrival at the Stadium most fans first port of call is the Phoenix Suite, Hunslet RLFCs’ official supporters bar. All fans are welcome in this bar, and no membership is required. To get to the Phoenix Suite follow the signs outside the Stadium. Carlsberg, Tetley’s and Brooklyn IPA are all on sale, served by friendly staff at reasonable prices. The bar is open from 12.00 noon on Sundays until kick-off, including half time and then from the final whistle till late.

There is a refreshments kiosk on the top tier concourse which has a range of drinks, snacks, as well as hot food like burgers, hot dogs and pies. There is also a bottle bar a on the top tier concourse “Goldthorpes Bar”.

The Hunslet RLFC Directors Lounge offers a full hospitality experience to be enjoyed at your own leisure. On your arrival you will be escorted to your table where you will enjoy a first-class carvery before watching the action from the best seats in the stadium.

Accessibility

THE South Leeds Stadium has facilities for disabled supporters, offering a good vantage point for you to enjoy the action from.

Furthermore, there is a large amount of disabled car parking available on site, meaning only a short trip from vehicles to your place in the ground.

Disabled supporters wishing to attend Hunslet RLFC matches on a match-by-match basis must pay the full and appropriate admission charge, according to age for which the application is made.

They will be entitled to a free ‘Carer Ticket’ for any match for which they pay an admission charge. To be eligible for the free ‘Carer Ticket’ you must bring relevant proof that you are in receipt of a Carer Component in the Disability Living Allowance for each match attended.

The above also applies to away supporters. Appropriate proof of disability must be included if applying in advance to the South Leeds Stadium. We advise away supporters to book their tickets in advance of the fixture date.

Disabled supporters should currently be in receipt of either the Higher-Medium rate Mobility or Higher Care Components of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) OR P.I.P.

Disabled Supporters will also need to submit copies of the DLA or PIP.
