Advantage

When the scored is tied with both players having three or more points each, the player that wins the next point is said to have the advantage. Players must win by two points, so this player must win the point after that in order to win the game. Advantage scoring is sometimes referred to as “ads” for short.

Examples of how advantage is used in commentary:

1. Williams will serve with an advantage. If she wins this game, then she will win her fourth match in a row.
