What does “to lob an opponent over” stand for in tennis?
What types of a lob exist?
To lob an opponent over means to make a shot at the highest possible height in order to circle an opponent, or to gain time. Two main types:
Offensive – the most common type of lobs, which is thrown from the back line with rotation to throw an opponent who has approached the net.
Defensive – basically thrown out of desperation, when a defending tennis player at the limit hits the ball far beyond the court just for the sake of hitting. This is the only option to somehow save the almost lost point.
