Advantages and Disadvantages of Betting on Asian Totals
Asian total for many players seems to be a complete mystery, but in reality there is nothing difficult in such bets. Asian total has a different structure, but it’s easy to understand, you only need to make it once and everything will become clear.
If normal total is a multiple of 0.5, then Asian is a multiple of 0.25, although in some offices such total has the following form of Over 2-2.5. When playing on Asian totals, the bet amount is divided into two equal parts and two bets are made on adjacent totals. The odds in these bets will be the same.
Examples of the bet on Asian total
In the Bournemouth-West Bromwich Premier League match, the bookmaker offers the following line for total:
The player wants to bet on Over 2.5 on which the bookmaker offers the odds of 1.98, but this player isn’t completely sure about this outcome. To insure, the bet is made on Over 2.25 with the odds of 1.625. The player makes the bet of $200, which the office automatically breaks into two bets of $100 (Over 2 and Over2.5).
Now let’s see what results can be at the bet:
- During the game 0 or 1 goal is scored – a loss;
- There are 2 goals scored in the game – one part of the bet is returned (100*1=100). The player loses 50% of his or her bet.
- There are 3 or more goals scored in the game – both parts of the bet win (100*1.625+100*162.5=325). The player’s win is $325 (net winnings – $125).
The main advantage of bets on Asian total is the minimization of the funds loss. The player insures with this bet. As you can see from the example, 2 scored goals brought us 50% of the losses from the bet, while at the bet Over 2.5 you would lose everything. At the same time, with 3 or more goals, the winnings at the bet Over 2.5 would be significantly greater than at the bet Over 2.25.
As early as 10 years ago such betting markets were the prerogative of Asian bookmakers’ lines, now most European offices accept bets for Asian totals. Even domestic bookmakers realized all their advantages and added to the line.
At the same time, we don’t advise you to bet on Asian total in every match, because then you will lose a lot in the win. Asian total is effective only in those games where two neighboring totals can be pierced with equal probability.
Pros and cons of the bets on Asian totals
Asian totals have a couple of minor disadvantages: they’re constantly lower in terms of odds compared to senior total, but this is a logical fee for reinsurance. The second disadvantage is a complex calculation, but this isn’t such a big disadvantage for players with experience.
Asian totals look much more obvious. Here, unlike betting on odds, you need to guess not the outcome of a match, the main thing is to get the necessary number of goals scored. When betting on odds it’s necessary not only to guess who will win or lose, but also to predict what the difference will be.
In addition, experienced players appreciate the possibility of reinsurance. For example, often one goal can be decisive, and in the bet on fractional Asian total, there are two situations simultaneously.
Asian totals often represent an opportunity to bet on the increased odds. For example, for total Under 2.5 scanty odds are offered, but to bet on total Under 1.5 – too risky. In such cases, Asian total Under 2.25 will help, which odds will be higher than total Under 2.5, but it allows you to return (in the case of two goals) half of the bet.
Therefore, you will have more space for maneuver that is very important in betting.
