Flat Betting Strategy: Examples on How to Modify

An example of a game on flat betting, which strategies based on a flat can be used to increase profits and what are the features of the application in football in this article.

Case study

Flat betting is a financial strategy for managing a bank (the amount you have allocated for betting).

The main principle of flat: at a fixed rate. The value of the bet for a predetermined period (from a month to a year) remains unchanged and is calculated as a percentage of the player’s bank.

Therefore, the technique of playing flat is sometimes called the “fixed-bet strategy”.

Example:

There bankroll in the amount of 10 thousand dollars. The size of the fixed bet is taken as 1% of the amount of the bank, which is $100. The period of time when the bet does not change is determined in one month.

Let’s admit after the specified time, having made 50 bets by a flat 1% – we made a profit of 1000 dollars, in the bank 11000 dollars . We calculate the new bet – $110 (1% of 11,000).

Recommended fixed bet percentage:

It is believed that a fixed percentage of the player’s bank can vary from 1 to 5%. Begin to put a flute, of course, it is necessary with one percent, in the future, as the experience is gained and positive gaming dynamics, an increase in the bet is possible.

Varieties of flat

The most common is the division of the flat system into the following types:

  • Static;
  • Academic or expert;
  • Chaotic;
  • Aggressive.

Static flat

This is the safest kind of flat. Usually the fixed bet is 1% of the bank and does not change for a long time.

Academic or expert flat

It is considered the most popular kind of flat. The bet varies between 1-3% of the bank, depending on:

  • from the confidence of the player in the outcome of the projected event (with maximum confidence – 3%);
  • from the knowledge of the player in those sports where he makes bets (higher percentage where the player is better oriented);
  • from patency bets (if the series fails, the bet decreases).

Aggressive flat

This type of flat, in comparison with static and academic, is often called risky. Bettor plays by bets 2 – 3% of the bank and in the case of protracted failures does not reduce interest in calculating the rate, which makes the strategy dangerous (although before Martingale to him in this respect is still very far).

Chaotic Flat

The essence lies in the title. The bets are 10 or more percent of the bank, which can be changed arbitrarily by the player’s decision.

In the network on the forums you can meet the opinion that the strategy is suitable for a small bank and is used for long distances, that is, several large bets are made on a long period of time. Such a statement, at least, is debatable.

Another opposite point of view is that such a strategy can take place, say, during some tournament, when a decision is taken to risk “here and now”. This, at least, is clear to me. Many players have passed through similar experiments.

Strategies based on flat

Fixed interest from the bank

This species is often identified as a separate financial strategy, but it has much in common with flat. In the ordinary flat, the interest bet change occurs in “control points”. Here, the size of the bet is determined taking into account the change in the bank.

Miller’s strategy

This strategy is sometimes referred to as an improved or modified flat. Its author is the famous American player George Miller.

Basic rules of the game flat

  1. The bet is constant for a certain period: 1 – 5% of the value of the bank. It’s usually recommended 2-3%.
  2. Conversion of the amount of the bet. After the expiration of the time when the bank is increased, you can recalculate the amount of the bet, leaving the interest unchanged. The specified periods when there is a change in the size of the bet (they are called control points) can be different – from a month to a year.
  3. Equitable events. It is recommended to consider equiprobable events with a coefficient of 1.9. If you want, you can find many options in the line. There are councils concerning the use of smaller coefficients. But it’s better not to do this, because we must not forget that the patency bet with a coefficient of 1.6 is 100/1.6 = 62.5%, which is extremely high.
  4. Bettors are put in obviously disadvantageous position in comparison with the BS because of the margin which usually ranges from 3 (at 1.97) to 15% (1.85). When it is necessary to exceed the breakeven threshold, the account goes to tenths. It is necessary to be careful – the “left” bookmakers with the help of a low commission attract the clientele.
  5. The number of bets for flat has a value – with an increase in the number of bets for profit, I require a smaller percentage of patency.

Example: The player made 10 bets with a coefficient of 1.9 to $100 per week , won 6 of them, his income was 6 * 1.9 * 100 – 10 * 100 = 140 dollars . The betting bet is 60%. The other player makes 100 bets with the same odds and wins 57. His income is 57 * 1.9 * 100-100 * 100 = 830. The penetration is 57%, which is lower than that of the first player. We see that the profit in the second case is much larger. Therefore, professionals tend to make more bets.

Important: Using “Value Betting”. The combination of flat betting and value betting (the search for overvalued coefficients) increases our chances in confrontation with the betting shop.

Features of bets flat in football and tennis

From the rules outlined above (point 3), objectively it follows that the game in a flat in football is most effective in stakes having two outcomes, and this is the odds on the odds and totals with comparable coefficients. Let’s give an example from the real line of one of the BS.

Example: Italy, “A” series, Udinese – Inter
total under (2.5) – 1.97 | | total over (2.5) – 1.97

To receive a profit (yield to a plus), it is necessary to type a large number of similar bets if possible (taking into account your forecasting abilities, including the search for inflated coefficients) and you will be in the black if you guess 100/1.97 = 50.76% of the total amount rates.

Promising in this regard, and tennis matches, when the BS believes the chances of the players are approximately equal. There is an opportunity to bet on one of the players or the total. If we assume that the BS establishes a minimum coefficient of 1.9 in these cases, then you will beat the bookmaker with a pass bet of 100 / 1.9 = 52.63%

Martingale flat

Many believe that these two strategies are incompatible. And indeed it is. The term “Martingale flat” is rare, it is much more common to find the term “soft Martingale”.

The difference from the conventional Martingale is that you can use events with coefficients less than 2, while the amount of the individual bet increases, and its value is calculated by the formula:

S = (W + Sp) / (K-1), where

S – bet amount
W – planned profit
Sp – accumulated loss
K – bet coefficient

Supporters of this strategy believe that with coefficients of 1.6 to 1.9 the probability of a long unsuccessful series decreases. According to my practice, this opinion does not seem convincing to me.

There is another variant of the “soft Martingale”, in respect of which it makes sense to speak if not about flat as a whole, then at least one of its main principles. Martingale is not carried out for the whole amount at once, but is divided into equal parts, each of which “catches up” separately. The above formula is applied in this case in a slightly modified version:

S = (W + Sp/St)/(K-1)

As we can see, a new parameter St is introduced – the counter of the lost bets.

Using a new variable slows down the growth of the stake (which reduces the risks) in case of an unsuccessful series, giving the bettor an opportunity to set the value of the current bet taking into account the amount of loss and the coefficient for the event.

So, let’s try to explain more simply, the order of actions when following this strategy:

  1. We make a bet. In case of success, the cycle is completed, in case of failure – go to step 2.
  2. Using the formula S = (W + Sp/St)/(K – 1), determine the size of the next bet (St = 1). If the bet has played – the end of the cycle and the transition to paragraph 1. In case of a lost bet, go to step 3.
  3. To the counter is added 1, again we calculate the size of the bet by the known formula.
  4. In the future, when the bet wins, the counter decreases by 1, and if it loses, it increases by the same amount. The process is repeated until the counter is reset or until the moment when we “go into the plus”.

Reviews. Disadvantages and dignity

Reviews about flat can be found very different – from “the only decent strategy” to “absolutely useless, unprofitable”. To conduct an analysis of opinions about “flat” is most convenient, having considered its merits and demerits.

Advantages

Virtues have already been called, but it will be useful to remind:

  • Simplicity and clarity, available to any player.
  • Reliability, maximally protecting the bettor from the “plum” of the bank.
  • The real possibility of making a profit when you achieve the necessary passability of bets.
  • Flexible application in combination with various game strategies.

Disadvantages

  • Large initial capital. This is true if we are talking about obtaining significant profits. In general, flat can be used with any player’s bank. The only restriction is the minimum bet size in the betting shop.
  • The need for high cross-country rates. Yes, without patency bets above 50% talk about the success of the flat does not make sense. But if the bettor can’t exceed 50% of the cross-country border at the bets of 50:50, then the financial collapse is waiting for him with any strategy, with the possible exception of arbs.
  • Slow growth of the bank. This is an objective property of the strategy. It is clear the majority’s desire to get “everything at once”, but the slow steady growth of the bank is the main goal to which one should strive.
  • Psychology. It’s usually said that it’s very hard to restrain yourself when you want to recoup faster, and then there’s the “sure bet”… And in general the flat is a very boring “thing”… If you want to learn how to fight bookie at least on an equal footing, then humble yourself and try to keep the emotions “in check” and strictly follow the main principles of the strategy.
