Football. Europe - UEFA Nations League

The second game on matchday five of the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League will take place in Yerevan, where Armenia hosts the Faroe Islands. Havakakan currently sits in second place in League C Group 4, while Landslidid is at the bottom of the table. Here’s our match prediction.

Armenia started their Nations League campaign strongly with a 4-1 victory over Latvia at home, but that has been their only win, and they now have four points from four matches. Since that initial success, Havakakan has struggled, losing 2-0 to North Macedonia both at home and away, interspersed with a 2-2 draw against the Faroe Islands on the road in matchday three last month.

At home this year, Armenia has played four matches with a record of two wins and two losses, scoring six goals while conceding four. However, they have not kept a clean sheet at home since June 2022, which could be a concern as they prepare to face the Faroe Islands.

On the other hand, the Faroe Islands have managed only three points from their first four games in this competition and cannot earn promotion but are still in contention for the promotion play-offs. Their points have come from draws against the other teams in the group, and the last time they won a match was against Liechtenstein in a friendly back in March.

That victory remains their only win in their last 16 away games, and they have failed to score in 10 of those matches, highlighting their struggles on the road.

Given Armenia’s stronger position in the group and their home advantage, they are favored to win this match. However, the Faroe Islands will be looking to capitalize on any defensive lapses by the hosts. Overall, a close match is expected, but Armenia should secure the three points.
