Chris Weidman suffered a permanent leg injury during a duel in April 2021, which has significantly impacted his career. Despite facing health problems for three years, Weidman did not retire from MMA. However, his return to the octagon after a long break has not been smooth. He lost his first two fights and only recently, in March, was able to secure a victory, bringing his total wins to 16.
His upcoming opponent, Anders, also has 16 wins, but like Weidman, has struggled with inconsistent results. In his last fight in May, Anders was defeated.
While both American fighters have similar training and fighting styles, their stance differs. They both utilize a combination of long-range attacks with their hands and feet, as well as clinching and takedowns.
