Group E at the Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers could be decided this Thursday afternoon when Equatorial Guinea faces Algeria at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo. The National Thunder currently sit in second place in the group, while the Desert Warriors lead the standings. Here’s our match prediction.

Equatorial Guinea has positioned itself strongly for qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by securing back-to-back wins over Liberia in rounds three and four last month. These results brought them to seven points, five clear of Togo in third place, meaning a victory here will guarantee the National Thunder a top-two finish in the group.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last four home games (W2 D2 L0) and have kept clean sheets in two of those matches. However, they did suffer a 2-0 loss to Algeria in the reverse fixture.

On the other hand, Algeria has already secured their spot at AFCON 2025 by defeating Togo 5-1 at home and 1-0 away in the October qualifiers, accumulating 12 points in the group. The Fennecs are currently on a five-match winning streak across all competitions and are among the five teams with a 100% record in these qualifiers after four rounds.

The visitors are also enjoying a three-match winning streak in away games and have suffered only one defeat in their last 12 matches on the road (W10 D1 L1). With both teams having much at stake, this match promises to be an exciting encounter.
