Two unseeded players, Quentin Halys and Sumit Nagal, will face off in the first round of the Stockholm Open. The winner will advance to face third seed Grigor Dimitrov in the next round.
Quentin Halys is currently ranked 95th in the world and recently reached the final of a hard court Challenger event, marking his second final this month after also making it to the final in Rennes. Although he reached an ATP Tour final on clay in Gstaad in 2024, Halys has yet to win two consecutive matches in the main draw of an ATP Tour event on hard courts. However, he successfully navigated through three qualifying rounds to reach the first round of the US Open.
The two players have met once before in 2019, with Nagal winning that encounter in straight sets during a Challenger Tournament on clay.
Sumit Nagal, ranked 78th, achieved a career-high ranking of 68th three months ago. He is in need of a victory, having lost his last seven matches, five of which were on hard courts. Nagal hasn’t won since late July, with his best results this year coming on clay after reaching a hard court Challenger final in India nine months ago.
