What are ELO ratings and where are they applied?
This is a method of calculating the relative strength of two rivals.
The creator of ELO ratings is Arpad Elo, an American of Hungarian descent, professor of astronomy and physics at the Marquette Catholic University. He created a system for assessing the relative strength of chess players, based on the difference between the expected result in the tournament and a really busy place. In the future, the Elo ratings system became more popular first among individual sports, and then command (football, hockey, etc.).
