Nickel Line

Nickel line is a bookmaker line, in the odds of events of which laid 5-cent commission bookmaker; it can also mean a line with a 5% bookmaker commission.

The phrase “nickel line” defines the American bookmaker line, the outcomes of which have odds with the commission in them at the rate of 5 cents. The word nickel means here a trifle or 5 cents, which carries the main semantic characteristic. There are 20-cent, 10-cent (dime line) and 5-cent lines (nickel line). In other cases, the nickel line can denote a line with a bookmaker commission of 5%.

The five-cent line is a rare phenomenon in betting, but in the American system it shows a five-cent gap between positive and negative odds – + 120/-115 or + 140/-135.
