Who wore number 20 in volleyball?

Jersey numbers aren’t quite important when we talk about the impact that the person has on the floor or the position they play, and it’s nothing more than a mere symbol to represent them and distinguish them from their teammates. Nonetheless, those jersey numbers are also one of the most important things in player’s minds when they get to a new place, wanting to carry their former number to someday find their shirt hanging high on the team’s facilities rafters.

Srecko Lisinac

Srećko Lisinac is a Serbian volleyball player, known as a member of the Serbia men’s national volleyball team and Italian club Itas Trentino, German Champion (2013), Polish Champion (2018).

In the 2013/2014 season, Lisinac won the title of German Champion with Berlin Recycling Volleys. In 2014, he moved to PGE Skra Bełchatów. He won a title of Polish Champion 2014 with PGE Skra Bełchatów. On October 8, 2014, his team won Polish SuperCup. On February 7, 2016, he played with PGE Skra and won the 2016 Polish Cup after beating ZAKSA in the final. In April 2016 he was a member of the same team which won a bronze medal in the 2015–16 PlusLiga championship. At the end of 2017–2018 season he signed a contract with Italian club Trentino Volley.

He is a bronze medalist of the European Championship 2013. On July 19, 2015 Serbian national team with him in squad went to the final of World League, but they lost to United States 0–3 and achieved silver medal. Lisinac received individual award for the Best Middle Blocker (ex–aequo with Maxwell Holt).

Raphael Vieira de Oliveira

Raphael Vieira de Oliveira is a Brazilian volleyball player, known as a member of Brazil men’s national volleyball team and Brazilian club Funvic Taubaté, a silver medalist of the 2014 World Championship, South American Champion (2005, 2009, 2015).

Beatrice Parrocchiale

Beatrice Parrocchiale is an Italian volleyball libero player. She is known as part of the Italy women’s national volleyball team.

Parrocchiale won the A2 Italian Cup with Il Bisonte San Casciano.

She competed at the 2015 European Games in Baku. She participated in the 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix. On club level she played for Atletica Amatori Orago in 2015.

Parrocchiale won the 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix silver medal and later played the 2017 European Championship with her national team, reaching the fifth place.

She was selected to play the Italian League All-Star game in 2017.

Brayelin Martínez

Brayelin Elizabeth Martínez is a Dominican volleyball player who won the bronze medal in the 2015 Pan American Games as a member of the Dominican Republic national team. She played in the 2014 Senior World Championship and the 2011 and 2015 FIVB World Cup.

With their under-age national teams, she won the gold medal in the 2015 U20 World Championship, silver medal in the 2013 FIVB U23 World Championship and bronze in the 2015 FIVB U23 World Championship. With the senior team she won the gold medal in the 2014 and 2016 Pan-American Cup and silver in 2013 and 2015; silver in the 2013 NORCECA Continental Championship and gold in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, 2016 U23 Pan-American Cup and the 2017 Bolivarian Games, where she was the flag bearer.

In 2013, she competed in five worldwide championships: the U20 World Championship, U18 World Championship, World Grand Prix, U23 World Championship and the World Grand Champions Cup. She is known for playing as an outside hitter for the Dominican club Mirador, playing with this club the 2011 and 2015 Club World Championship.

She received the Dominican Republic Guild of Sport Writers award as the 2013 volleyball player of the year. She won the 2014 Santo Domingo Province Superior Tournament with the Dominican club Playeras de Boca Chica.

Nancy Carrillo

Nancy Carillo de la Paz is a volleyball player from Cuba.

She represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where she won the bronze medal with the national team in the women’s team competition. She participated in the 2006 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship.

Carrillo was named the Women’s Best Server at the 2002 World Championship.

Kristina Guncheva

Kristina Guncheva is a Bulgarian female volleyball player. She is known for playing as a setter for the Bulgaria women’s national volleyball team and Romania.

She was part of the Bulgarian national team at the 2015 FIVB Volleyball Women’s U23 World Championship, 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix, and 2017 FIVB World Grand Prix.

She competed at the 2018 Women’s European Volleyball Championship preliminaries.

Ilyas Kurkaev

Ilyas Magomedovich Kurkaev is a Russian volleyball player, known as a member of the Russia men’s national volleyball team and Russian club Lokomotiv Novosibirsk. He participated at the 2017 European Championship.

Amanda Benson

Amanda Benson is an American volleyball player.

She played at the 2017 Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup, 2017 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, 2018 Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup, and 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League.

She played for the University of Oregon’s women’s volleyball and Dresdner SC 1898.

Porya Yali

Porya Yali is an Iranian volleyball player known for playing as an opposite spiker for the Iranian national team and Iranian club Paykan Tehran.

In 2018, Yali was invited to join the Iranian senior national team by Igor Kolaković and made his debut match against Poland in the 2018 Nations League.

Taishi Onodera

Taishi Onodera is a Japanese male professional volleyball player from Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. Onodera sometimes served as Japan senior national team’s captain. He is known for playing in V.League for JT Thunders.

Mateusz Bieniek

Mateusz Bieniek is a Polish volleyball player, known as a member of the Poland men’s national volleyball team, participant at the Olympic Games (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), 2018 World Champion, Polish Champion (2017, 2019). At the professional club level, he chose to play for PGE Skra Bełchatów.

On 2 April 2015, he was called up to the Polish national team led by Stéphane Antiga. He debuted in the national team on 28 May 2015. It was a match of the intercontinental round of the 2015 World League against Russia (3–0). He achieved 14 points and was named the Most Valuable Player of the match. On 30 September 2018 Poland achieved its third title of the World Champion. Poland beat Brazil in the final (3–0) and defended the title from 2014.

David Smith

David Smith is an American volleyball player, known as a member of the United States men’s national volleyball team, bronze medalist at the Olympic Games (Rio 2016) and the 2018 World Championship, 2015 World Cup winner, Champions League winner (2021), Spanish Champion (2011), multiple-time French Champion (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015). At the professional club level, he chose to play for ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Smith is nearly deaf.

Smith played for the UC Irvine volleyball team from 2004 to 2007. In 2004, his .369 hitting percentage was the highest on the team. He also had a 1.03 blocking average and 102 block assists. The following season, he had a .401 hitting percentage and a 0.86 blocking average. Smith then had a .412 hitting percentage, 1.27 blocking average, 129 block assists, and 143 total blocks in 2006.

In 2007, Smith helped University of California win the NCAA National Champions title. His .559 hitting percentage led the nation and was a new school record. He also broke the UCI single-season block assists record, with 160. Smith was named to the All-American first team and the NCAA All-Tournament team. He finished his UCI career as the school’s all-time leader in block assists (471) and total blocks (520).

Smith joined the U.S. national team in 2009. That year, he was named the Best Blocker at the World Championship Qualifier and played in the FIVB World League. In 2010, he helped the U.S. win the Pan American Cup.

Smith tied as the team’s second-leading scorer at the 2011 Pan American Cup, as the U.S. finished second. He then played in the 2012 FIVB World League, where the U.S. finished second. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was a substitute and had eight points.

Arisa Inoue

Arisa Inoue is a Japanese volleyball player known for playing with the Hisamitsu Springs. She also chose to play for the Japan women’s national volleyball team.

Inoue won a silver medal with the Japan U20 national team at the 2013 FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship. She competed at the 2014 Montreux Volley Masters with the Japan women’s national volleyball team.
